1837- Tiffany & Young opens at 259 Broadway in NYC on September 18th.
1837- “Tiffany Blue” was adopted as part of their branding and used for bags, boxes, etc.
1845- The first Tiffany catalog was published.
1851- First American company to use 925/1000 sterling standard. Later adopted by the United States.
1853- Charles Tiffany gains control and renames it Tiffany and Co.
1853- The Atlas statue supports clock over Tiffany entrance.
1862- Supplies the Union Army with surgical implements,swords,and supplies for the civil war.
1867- First American company to win an award for the excellence of its silverware
1871- Audubon flatware pattern introduced.
1873- Boston museum of fine arts acquires first Tiffany piece to be places in a museum.
1878- Charles Tiffany purchases Tiffany Diamond, cut the stone is 128.54 carats.
1886- Tiffany setting is introduced.
1887- Purchases some of the French Crown Jewels.
1902- Louis Comfort Tiffany son of Charles Tiffany establishes “tiffany art jewelry” department.
1907- Tiffany chief gemologist aids in adoption of the metric carat as weight standard for gems.
1926- United States Adapts Tiffany’s Platinum purity standard nationwide.
1930- New York Yacht Club asks for Tiffany to design a trophy.
1940- Tiffany & Co. moves to 57th street on 5th avenue in NYC.
1950- Truman Capote’s “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” is published.
